Dom was a bit easier to get to (and Craig, like the gentleman he is, was helping to pick up some broken glass off the pool table), so I snaked my way around to him just as he was asking Jeffrey for a closer look at his amazing feet. He asked him to put them up on the table, and he was most complimentary! It's saying quite a lot from someone who had to wear the buggers every day for months on end! Dominic was in a most jovial mood, and complimented Jeffrey on his entire ensemble, but added, "I'm pissed, you look more like Billy than me!" It was so sweet! Several shots were taken of Dom and Jeffrey, as well as a few with Tami. He agreed to a picture with the group and one was snapped of us all together. He looked around and noticed that we were all about his height or a little taller, so he reasoned, "I've got to stand on my tippy-toes so that I look more like a man." IMMEDIATELY the group crouched down all at once! HILARIOUS! Next, it was time for some casual talk. I told him that we loved him in Hetty Wainthrop, at which point he gave a very sincere thank-you and that endearing smile. Kierstin asked him about the ever-present rings on his hands. The one on his right middle finger was from an old girlfriend. The ring on his left thumb he had bought somewhere, but I don't remember where. The middle finger of his left hand had two rings. One was a smaller, twiney ring that he had bought in New Zealand. The larger ring was from his aunt and uncle. The inspiration had come from Baz Luhrman's Romeo + Juliet, where the families had different rings, so he had asked his rellies for one. I meant to ask him about the bit of forest he had purchased (see http://www.futureforests.com/), but at this point I noticed I could no longer see Craig Parker, and I began to panic. Fortunately, Melonie had enough presence of mind to ask Dom about the forest. I'm just sad I wasn't there to hear what he had to say. Apparently, the exchange went something like this: Melonie complimented him on buying part of a forest to plant trees and become 'carbon neutral.' He was very excited to be talking about it! He told her, "Yeah, it's really great. It's actually a mango forest, so the natives can go in and pick the fruit and sell it, and earn the profits. I actually own a piece of forest next to Coldplay! Yeah, I could go down there and order everyone out of my forest and hang out with Coldplay eating mangos... but I wouldn't do that." |
